: Where did you park and how thick was the ice? Im dying to get out but thoughtall the lakes were ice free. Any information would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
Park at McDermot's which used to be Wasz's resort. If you come up route 59, take a left on 173, go about 2 or 3 miles. You will see the south end of Channel Lake on your right. Then take a right on Lake Street. Take another right about a 1/2 mile down (there is a Old Style or some other beer sign). You can drive all the way past the restaurant and park near the the docks. You walk out on the dock all the way out to the right. On Saturday there were about 40 or 50 guys out. They are fishing in the far South end. You will see them. Fish are not the only ones that travel in schools. There are weeds in that area and to the opposite side of the lake. I moved around alot and did well. Alot of people stayed in one spot. The afternoon bite is good. I am too lazy to get there early. The ice is solid, about 5 to 7 inches. After you turn right off Route 59 onto Route 173 there is a bait shop, Sorenson's on the left side about a half mile down. You have to watch for the sign. He is on route 73, but his parking lot is a couple of feet lower than the road, so it is easy to miss. He has been there for years and has good bait prices and info. Good luck.
