Fished on Sunday 02/18 with Mr. Walleye. Started on Channel Lake fished the west side of the lake about a hundred yards out from the Teepee nobody was fishing anywhere near us. Mr.Walleye got about 10 bluegills in 6 feet of water on teardrop/spikes. Nothing on the tip-ups. Probably because of the snowmobiles coming within 5 feet of them at 80 miles per hour. Some of them even buzzed the shanty within 10 feet, and there was nobody even near us. For some reason they felt it necessary to buzz by our shanty and make a commotion. At least one of them had the decency to recognize he came too close to the tip-ups and aknowledged us and apologized. At least theres some decent people out there. Anyways before I get on the snowmobilers tick me off tangent, back to the report. Ice was very solid about 14" base but not as thick on the shorelines. We were on the lake from about 12:30 - 3:30 packed up and stopped by Lake Zurich on the way home for some dusk tip-up fishing. Ice was solid about 16" base couldn't really tell but also seemed very solid near shore. fished from about 5:00 until 7:30 using only tip-ups with Medium roaches in 8 feet of water out in front of the newer looking condos on the northwest side of the lake . Got two flags all evening, the first one the fish ran and dropped the bait, the second flag I got a 27" northern. I tell you after I got skunked at Channel that fish made my day. Good luck to all who go out this week, Ill probably be out on Zurich again next weekend. All fish were released.
