I thought I would give the afternoon bite one last shot before we lost all of our safe ice. I was very surprised that I did not see even ONE other fisherman on the entire lake. Did everyone give up on Pistakee this year? I know the season has been tough fishing, but I figured at least someone would be given it a shot. The wind was blowing extremely hard across the entire bay. At one point I was drilling a hole and my tent started to slide across the lake. For anyone of you that have had to chase something down across the lake, you know the exact feeling.
The ice conditions were still in good shape with at least 12 inches of inch. The shore ice was good also at Oak Park hotel; there were no planks out yet.
As far as fishing, because of the wind I could not sit in the tent in the main bay without being blown away. I did not mark any suspended fish in the holes that I did drill across the bay, so I had to move out of the wind. I went to the East Side in about 6 feet of water to escape the wind. Unfortunately, it was still very windy also. I did manage a few nice bluegills in spite of the wind. I spoke to couple of gentleman at Oak Park Hotel who said on Friday a couple of guys came in with several nice bluegills.
Happy Fishing and be sure to use caution with the ice.
