Well, since I couldn't ice fish Maple Lake in Cook County, I joined rtltrap and his son Andy at Maple Lake in DuPage county. Man, I should have stayed in bed. Two gills in about 4+ hours of fishing, although rtl & son did better(but not much.) On top of really slow fishing, I discovered my vex had a cut in the cord, and all I could get was depth readings, but nothing else, no spikes falling down, no jig location, nothing. Tried from 5' depths to 30' depths. Slow, slower, slowest. Ice was mostly 6 - 8'', and still pretty solid along the shoreline. Come on open water!
