Took the boat out for the first time this year , couldnt wait any longer. Started out by going for perch in the river , started at the mouth but couldnt find any takers ,marked alot of fish on the fish locator. Saw a few boats in the first harbor or bay on the right side of the river as we went up river from the lake . Decided to give it a try there with the other boats , and found some action but not any size to the perch . Moved around the river and found the same thing , smaller perch up to 8" in size . So we decided to go out in the harbor and troll for some coho . Trolled up and down the north wall to stay out of the waves , and didnt have any action the water was very churned up from the winds . Was about ready to go back to the river for some more dink perch fishing when we had two coho hit at the same time on the west shore heading back to the river . Worked the area for a while and didnt get another hit . Both fish came on shad raps , one shad color and the other orange crawfish, one was flatlining the other on a board both were #7 size. The water temperature was 33-34 , still pretty cold . Both coho were about 16" long and looked pretty good. Was cold out there , think we have a few more weeks until the real action begins, but not a bad start to the year !!
