Spent the day kickin' around the Port yesterday, tried a little of everything. Trolled just outside the ditch, fished the discharge at the port, fishing was fair for most of the day, got a few small rainbows at the discharge on spawn and minnows fished under a slip bobber, tried for but couldn't connect with any smallies while we were there, went out & trolled around the mouth of the ditch and caught a few Coho, at about 2:00 we decided to run back into the river to sit in *calm water to eat some lunch ( * the SW winds of early morning switched to WNW then NW and the lake started kicking up a little for my little 16 ft'er), while we eat we put out some squid under a slip bobber & proceeded to finish taking our two man limit of nice "Eater Sized" Coho, all about 17-19 inch. couldn't keep the bait in the water, also had a 3" white twister with a small stinger hook dressed with a little piece of squid, just dropped it to the bottom, cranked it up a half turn & let it sit over the side of the boat, this accounted for about half the fish we took. Trolling got us a few fish too, I was fishing a Suspending Yo-zuri Crystal Minnow in Tenn. Shad color, and my partner got a few on a shallow diving rainbow pattern Rapala but the squid was the star of the day! Also found out I have some problems with my boat that I'll need to take care of before I use it again...lower unit started leaking oil...not much, but still not good,if oil is coming out water is going in! and for some reason my livewell wont drain...wonder what kind of crap I've got stuck in there??? Anyway...fishing should only improve for the next few weeks...watch the weather & go out and get em when you can!
