For the past several years, I've used Berkley's Fireline (6 lb test w/ the diam. of 2 lb mono) and have been very pleased with it. I use it on an ultralight and its the only thing I use when jigging for walleye. You can't tie it directly onto your spool tho, you need to tie on a few yards of lightweight mono to your spool (I use 6 lb mono for that), then tie the Fireline to that. The Fireline is too slippery to tie directly to the spool. Use a Palomar knot to tie the Fireline to your tackle. And lighten up on your hooksetting or you'll be yanking the hook right outta the fishes mouth...just a flick of the wrist is about all thats needed. The Fireline has NO stretch and is incredibly sensitive to light bites. OH...and NEVER wrap it around your hand to free up a snag, it'll cut right into you. I carry a 6" length of wooden closet rod in my boat...wrap the Fireline around that several times to pull a snag free.
