Smallmouth and largemouth both can have different colors depending on water clarity and even the depth they were caught. When more sunlight penetrates the water, more of the skin pigments are stimulated in the fish and more color is brought out. Depending on where you catch them on Lake Cal, they can have quite a spectrum of color changes.
