: oh yeah, has anyone ever seen a green smallmouth?I caught one last week that was 17 inches.it was green and sort of silver, like a largemouth but with no stripes or spots.it had everything else like a smallmouth including the fight.someone told me it was a hybrid largemourh/smallmouth called a (meanmouth).anyone heard of or seen this before?
: The fishin's good, whether you catch 'em or not.
You can tell a meanmouth by the jaw. It's the same as a largemouth, the hinge is behind the eye. I'm sure the other guys are right, it's a just coloration thing. I don't recall ever hearing of meanmouth being produced naturally, and unless he found a way to Lake Cal. from Kentucky Lake I'd say it was a smallie. I have caught several in the big pond that were very green. Usually only early in the year when the vis. is low.
