Brian,
The guards are the ones who determine what time the gates open. They typically open between 6-7...literally. Be carefull if you get there on a weekend as soon as the gates open...you may get trampled. Spring coho fishing at DM somehow attracts all the a-holes. I have never seen such ignorant, rude, and inconsiderate people. If you turn around to take a piss during coho season, by the time you turn back around, there is some billy in your spot. If you want a nice quiet place to fish don't go to DM in the spring. DM is a great spot to fish June-Feb. There isn't a million guys out there. It is not uncommon to see 250 guys out there during the spring run. Sometimes there is so many guys, there isn't enough parking. As I told Mark, there are a lot more places to fish cohos in IN. I believe a lot of them to be equally as good with a lot less people. Good Luck
