I'm new to the big pond fihing scene and am not shure how to deal with it. I am talking about that slimmy, mossy stuff that clings on to your line and ends up collecting on the rod tip making it impossible to reel in the line. It has also given me problems collecting up on the downrigger wires as well making it difficult to bring up the ball. I've lost several fish due to this stuff, including a huge laker just yesterday, because the stuff fouled up so bad that the reel would not work any more. I tried to handline it in but was not able to boat it. I'm not shure if it is shallow water related (I've been fishing the 100' to 150' range) or is it out in deeper waters also. Can anyone help me with what it is and how to deal with it?
