Galena suggestions

I am going to Galena with the family on short notice and haven't had time to do my usual research on places to fish. Any suggestions for short outing locations either for me alone or with the kids? Where and what species? Should I consider smallmouth? I spin fish and am a novice fly fisherman (2 rods, no waders yet). Thanks!!
