:
: : use 5/4 ths x 6" deck boards spaced apart about the size of a 20 ga shot shell
: : this allows mud, debri, and water to flow under the deck and keep you from slipping. If you can glue 4" foam strips under each board that will add to the flotation and compesate for the added weight.

: I have set up my john boat with a wood floor and you don't need anything thicker than 1/2" marine plywood.
Then screw 1" x 2" or 2" x 2" treated wood strips longways, paralell to the keel, to the under side of the new wood deck.
If fitted right you won't have to screw anything to your craft that will only weaken your main supports.
The 1" x 2"'s leave enough space between boat hull and deck for water and air.
You still have an option of adding strips of styro-foam in-between the treated wood strips, but this is'nt necessary.
