I fished the Muddy Miss for many years and used to take around 5 or 6 large minnows and put them into cheese cloth. Then smash them. Cast into a edy of the main current and hold on. If you are ice fishing for cats put 2 or three minnows on a large treble hook and fish it right on the bottom.
