Bring a foldable camping shovel. Dig in the sand where the waves lapped the shore. You should find sand fleas just below the surface. They are small crabs about the size of a quarter or a bit larger. They make great bait. Use a 1/0 short shank hook on 8# test line and a slip sinker. Hook the crap once throught the shell. You should get pompano in the surf. Go out as far as possible near inlets being the best.
