After receiving a report from a certain well respected local Walleye Pro/Outdoor Writer/Radio Personality that Wolf Lake Walleye were on the prowl, and armed with semi-in-depth personal instructions on lure selection/modification/presentation I, & my fishing partner & comrade in crime Joe S. felt confident enough to do a little after dark Walleye hunting an the Wolf, after discovering they made the road around the lake "One-Way" and driving around for a while we finally found the (119th St ?) entrance and we fished the Maze Channel from right after dark until almost 9:00 PM, throwing every suspending stickbait I own, we fished slow, fished even slower, we fished so damned slow it actually hurt, we fished shallow, we fished a little deeper, we fished parallel to the shore, between the two of us we fished about 50% of the shoreline in the channel from about 50 yd. past the mouth of the channel all the way down to the fence, not one bump, not a nibble, not even a "Hey, I think that might have been a little tap....maybe...?" We saw one fella out trolling in a very small boat and there were about 10-12 other shore fisherman out there doing just about the same as us & with about the same success...or lack thereof, conditions couldn't have been better, wind was blowing, temps low-40's, barometer falling, front end of an approaching rain system, everything seemed so right, so how could we NOT catch fish? Maybe I can talk my Pro friend into giving a little on-sight instruction one of these nights in the not too distant future, or maybe I should just forget about those tricky-picky-finicky walleye & just stick to fishing Lake Michigan Smallies?
