When you depress the thumbar adjust the brake so the bait falls slowly to the ground. When it hits the ground the spool should not overrun. Also adjust the magnetic brake all the way on till you get used to it. If you have a centrifugal brake, pull all of the brake "pads" out. If this can't help in the next month or so of winter we have left. I recommend buying a stella to bask in your sorrows. Also don't tell your wife/girlfriend about the $400 reel.
