Default Patience

Hit the Dupage yesterday and managed a few. Largest was 15". Started out on the Fox and got skunked. Water temp 45 degrees. Hopped over to the Dupage because I thought the rain over the weekend warmed it up more. Started with a white hair jig suspended and floated in eddy's. Got one on that rig then switched up to an 1/8th oz chartreuse fish head jig and 2" craw colored twister slowly worked in the same spots. That seemed to be the ticket as I picked up all the rest on this setup.

I always enjoy reading reports about the new and improved DuPage river...
As I get older, I always remember that incident with the neighbor kid across the street from my house {in the 70's} who fell into the Duper' and got sick from his contact with the water and a hospital visit ensued.

As I've posted before, in the 1940's, my Stepfather and his friends would drive onto sandbars and wash their cars in the DuPage river...

I guess the river has come full circle now.

Nowadays, it's full of gamefish.Wow.

I also fished the Naperville Riverwalk on Friday after work when it got to 82 outside. Managed 4-5 dink smallies here and there until the temp dropped 30 degrees in what seemed like minutes!

Google-earthed a spot since this area is all new to me. Found one 10min north of where I had been fishing. Easy access and really good-looking water. Jumped out and worked as close as I could from shore in a nice big eddy. First cast nailed a little guy. Tried a few more casts but couldn't get near the wall. Going back after work.

Went back after work and was only able to manage a dink. Water temp dropped to 45 as well as the air temp. Then I fell in and everything changed. Broke my reel and bruised several other parts of my body. Could have been much worse. Please be careful when you are out wading by yourself.

It was pretty cool seeing the geese nesting now. The male was out in the middle of the river trying to distract me from the female on the nest.
