just got back from the duper. yes i fished in the rain.
fished from 520ish til 645. i hammered em like i never have before.
caught my biggest duper smallie yet. it was about 16 inches long, and a chunker. well all the fish i caught were fat, even the couple dinks. i ended up with around 25 fish, lost count after like 6...
caught fish on a 1/16 jighead with a power bait minnow with "powerscales".
also caught fish on a black with yellow dots and a gold blade panther martin. tried a spinnerbait in the end with no takers but the bite was starting to shut down around 630. fished in my "secret spot"... not a secret though, just like the idea of having a secret spot.
only caught 5 dinks, the rest were very hardy fish with bulging bellies.
for those of you who live near, get out on the dupe, the smallies are feeding and all have put on significant weight.

good luck

I wouldn't broadcast any "secret spots", but were you above or below the dam?

secret shmecret... if it were a spot in the middle of no where then i probabyl wouldn't tell, but since its a public preserve and what not.

below... and on the "wrong" side of the river.
im going back tomorrow for some hardcore exploring to find some more "secret spots". i believe that with some exploring i can find loads of "s.s." in there.
i really dont fish the duper as much as i should, seeing as i could just about throw a rock and make it splash.

I stopped on thursday at around 11:00am at the du page in Plainfield when I was supose to be working. Second cast a 16in about 2lbs smallie. what a fight!!! caught him on a small silver rattle trap. Then I lost my balance and slipped in the mud getting my dress clothes all mudding that was fun explaining to my wife why I had to come home and change clthes in the middles of the day. I am heading back out tomarrow in old clothes and I know there will be many hungry smallies to caught and release.

well done dap,
i've fished that area a number of times,
with marginal luck.
i go back every now and again
because it's a very pretty
and tranquil place to fish
(when there aren't too many people there).
good luck guys,
and post some pix!!
