Fished a couple of my spots on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00. I had been worried about my spots as I did not catch a smallmouth since August of 2001. There was some road construction going on up river and the water clarity just wasnt right. Anyway, as this was my first time out to the Duper, I had to screw up somehow and forgot my little tackle box. All I had was the rapala I had tied on and 1 old jig/twister that was in my waders from last year. Monday was hot, and the water felt warm. No temp guage but I would say that it was close to the 60 deg. range. 2nd cast produced nice 15". Total, 4 bass all 14" or better, all real fat and healthy. I lost what had to be at least an 18", got a good look at her but didn't get a good hook set. All fish caught on rapala and all were hitting short. Got a few bites on the jig but they were just pulling at the tail. Even though I didn't get numbers, the quality/size were really impressive. When I started fishing this area all the bass averaged 8" It was a great day and I am psyched! The fish are still there and getting bigger each year.
