spent a few hours on the K3 with Catfish Bill from Midwest Outdoors last night, we were taping a segment on night fishing for cats, we launched at the old River Isle Resort and headed up stream about half a mile, we fished fresh shrimp & blue gills, cats didn't want the shrimp at all...not a bump but I managed a very nice cat of 11.14 lb on a blue gill, it was the only fish caught but we got it on tape then the fish was released, hopefully it will make for some good TV, I'm told it should air in a few weeks.

PS. there was a major mayfly hatch last night and I think the fish were gorging themselves on the emerging bugs

We were bottom fishing the edges of drop-offs, livers are too messy in the boat as is stink bait, the bugs were bad enough without us trying to call them in with that type of bait, if you get to see the segment we taped (IF they air it that is...) I did a little something extra to my gills that Bill wasn't doing that night, we hadn't caught any green-eared sunfish like I prefer for bait so we used small blue gills which have a rougher scale than greenies so I scale the gills and then scored them with a knife edge to get more scent in the water....seemed to have done the trick!
