Default Wilmington 1-1-06

Went to Wilmington Dam around 1:00 today. River was a bit too high and cold (plus the occasional ice flow spilling over the dam) for wading, so I decided to shore fish it. The river was still full of broken up algae, both on the bottom and suspended, so I went over to the broken dam instead where there was much less algae. Not a bite, but it was good to get out of the house and get the '06 fishing season underway.

Yep, I hear ya. I got there myself at 730 or so and feeshed for a few hours by the dam. Seen a couple of other guys wading. I was from shore. LOTS of algea. And that water really looked dirty.

Went to the broken dam and seen a few folks feeshing. Water was up so thats good. It even looked cleaner. Still no feesh.

Default Wilmington Dam MLK weekend!?!?

I've been thinking about fishing the Wilmington Dam this weekend with my spinning rod, what bait should I use for walleye in the winter. Minnows, worms, plastics, ice jigs? I usually use my fly rod, and although I'll bring it just in case, it will probably just sit in the truck and wait for a little warmer weather.
