Default Rock Creek 5/22/06

Hi all!! I just recently joined, and earlier today I made my first visit this year to Rock Creek. My friend and I fell in love with this little creek by the end of last year and we would constantly go 4-5 times a week. Well after a long break from the creek, we finally had a chance to go down and check it out. To our surprise, we had probably one of our best fishing trips EVER. My buddy caught about 5 good size smallies. I caught 2 16-18 inch smallies, with a 3rd getting away from me because of a fallen log that got in the way. I was so happy because this was the first time I've ever caught a smallmouth bass and was able to take a picture of it. (My first ever escaped as I tried to pick him up) Here is the biggest of the 2 smallies that I caught..

Looking to head over there again this Wednesday, cant wait!![/img]

That's a nice smallie, especially on a fly rod.

What are the water conditions in Rock Creek?

Thanks guys for the comments, you dont know how excited I was to bring him in. I used what my friend and I call the sparkle grub. Not sure exactly how to explain it, but it sure does have magical powers!

We went there again yesterday, it was pretty bad in terms of weather. We had to sit out for about 3 hours cause of the T-storms, but the smallies were still hitting hard!!

I caught about 5 good size smallies, but I had hooked into 2 HUGE ones that got away. Both of them were great fighters. The first 1 I had gave me a good fight for about 15 minutes, just zipping left and right. I was on this big rock standing up, and it almost threw me off from all the jerks. He somehow got off by zipping under the rock, and my line got snagged up. The 2nd one jumped before I could counter him and got the fly off. I honestly think the first one might have been bigger than the picture above.

We're heading over there again tomorrow. My friend is leaving for Alabama on Saturday so were trying to get as much time fishing as we can. I'm thinking about calling in sick. Hopefully the rains from last night and tonight wont cloudy up the water. It was pretty clear even after the morning rain on Wednesday.

If any of you are heading out to the creek tomorrow, look for 2 guys fly fishin!!

Default Rock Creek Update 5-26

Ok so I went back again to Rock Creek this past Friday, and as expected the creek was raging and murky. You could hardly see a thing. I did manage to catch 3 good size smallies in about 2 hours. But after that it was just bad luck everywhere. We didnt catch another fish, but it sure was an adventure wading through those waters!
