Default Wilmington Dam

Whats up with the $10.00 fee to get into the wilmington dam area, and to the north by the resurant is $10.00 to get in. I might as well go to a pay lake. I wasn't even going to go fishing, just wanted to get close to the dam and take a look at what was going on. That FAT **** at the gate wouldn't let me in. Thats [email protected], theres gotta be something that can be done.

Default Usage Fee

I had hoped that they weren't going to charge this year.

Several reasons for the fee have been proposed by folks on this message board, i.e.

-Pays for insurance for the city
-targeted toward folks they don't want using the park
-or, they just see it as a way to make some money

Their choice but it's too bad that it impacts the area business's

Less fishermen at the dam means that the gas station, the local fast food places, etc, get less business

I make a point of still visiting the Dam Bait Shop to pick up supplies, lures, etc. Not their fault that the city charges a fee.

As for fishing the dam, yea it's an easy focus and their are a lot of fish there soemtimes but the Kankakee is a large river with other spots

I've been fishing it for over 5 years and I don't know a fraction of the water that holds fish.

Best bet is just get out and explore a few new places. Sure, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't but that's the fun of it.

If fishing just means keeping score on the number of fish I catch then I could just go back to golf

Enjoy the experience not just the results

Creekyknees: Do I read your post correctly? During the week there is no fee for non residents. Thanks
