Default So, what was the end result of that plant explosion???

did that stuff end up leaking out into the kankakee? I hadn't heard much about it since it initially happened, & at the time there were varying reports of what happened & how bad it was...

any updates?

Well from my experience and several others I know, no one was catching any walleyes immediately down stream this spring.

Officially, nothing being offered by EPA or KRMA. Well outside of my sewage rates will go up to defray the repair bill.

Come to the K3 Roundtable rollout on June 7 and you can ask the DNR, they will be doing a presentation on the walleye population. That will be one of many presentations about river issues.

Thanks for the response Creeky Knees. I'm going to try & make that roundtable discussion... i'd be interested in hearing the walleye presentation, as well as sediment discussion.

Hooked into a Walleye today, but it was way upstream of there... initial explosion was in the vincinity of state park, correct? Hopefully the EPA has something for us as far as how safe the water is for wet waders etc

The explosion at the plant was in Bradley, just upstream from Hyde's Hole. If you know the area it's near the Ultra grocery store on 45/52

Bumping an old thread from way back...

Did the EPA ever render an official verdict on the explosion/water quality downstream of the area folks were not catching any walleyes immediately downstream? Has the fishing picked back up in that section

they got fined by the EPA but it was basically a slap on the hand. they recieved a much stiffer fine for being late on some paperwork in an unrelated issue.

I couldn't say if the walleye fishing picked up recently or not. I got tired of not catching walleye there that I just gave up.
