Default cats are hitting good

Went to my catfish hole saturday ...... and caught 11 cats all in the 4-9lb range.......... kinda havta watch which ones to clean as the first fish I cleaned was full of eggs.... so I released 5 that looked like they probably had eggs......... and cleaned the rest......... sadly one that I opted to clean also had eggs. The river is still murky but considerably better than it has been ..... although it is getting low. My grandson took my jon boat up into Horse creek and caught several 1-2lb smallies and some rock bass and gills all on night crawlers.

I need to get out on the K3. My fiancée loves fishin for cats, since it's so relaxing and they fight like the devil. But I have taken her out a couple times in the past 2 weeks to some of my spots on the DesPlaines that normally produce cats, but have been unusually slow as of late.

Have only dabbled with the K3 so far, and need to spend more time out there. Not looking for your specific holes, but any advice on stretches to start out with?? I don't eat anything from IL waters, just lookin to put the lady on a few nice cats.

PM me if you are feeling generous!

lets just say I fish around Rivals Lookout Park .... sorta kinda in Wilmington/Richie ........ it is a public park ...... has a small boat launch, direct river access along a good stretch...... if fish aint biting can always disc golf, horseshoes..... a bike path that goes over the river......... and runs all the way to Joliet ...... come down and visit it.

Very familiar with the area, and that location! I work around that area quite a bit. Always thought that would be a good spot to launch, but I was always too hesitant of learning where the rivers hazards are the hard way.
Looks like I have some exploring to do.

Thanks, and maybe I'll see ya out there!

cranks have been getting cats at neckdowns and riffle areas. drifting cut bait in similar areas should produce.

I live about 1/4 mile from the park and live right on the river.......and frankly I am the poor slob whom opens the gate every morning........... so ya good chance on seeing ya there ! and yea ........... I dont know the size/hp of your boat if it is a bigger boat ie ranger or so I would suggest not launching there as that section of the river is shallower in spots. Horse creek is only 1/4 or so from the launch and sometimes holds good smallies.

Quick

would you be kind enough to refresh an old fart's memory with directions to Rivals Park ?

I haven't been back there since Lanny and I would leave his trailer there when putting tagged fish in for the derby.

The Rivals Lookout park (what it is currently called) is located approximately two miles south of wilmington. Follow route 102 south from Wilmington until you find Rivals Road, take Rivals road all the way to the end and well, it ends at the Park. VERY easy to find. I am there quite a bit and am thinking on having a small fish fry with friends and family there saturday. Nothing like fresh catfish and hushpuppies and fries on a nice day with friends.

The water level went up considerably with this recent rains but frankly seems to be dropping kinda fast also.
