Default High water hay day !

Fished just outside of town tonight after work from 5 to about 8. Hit the flooded shore lines of a few inside bends in the river with the trusty craw and keeper and a new crank I picked up. Walked about a mile and a half of shore line before I found them but it was well worth the walk the craw bite was kind of slow with the stained water producing only a few small bass. The crank. On the other hand was on fire. Seeing a down tree with a flooded undercut bank I decided that is my best bet. First cast I got 4 turns of the reel in and the bait gets crushed. It feels big and I expected a nice jump or strong run into the faster water and I got it. But to my surprise it was not one of our acrobatic smallies it was a nice pike that did a full on head shaking tail stand out of the water. After a short battle I landed the fish. Didn't have my tape with me but I would bet it was between 33 to 36 inches long. A few casts later the smallies moved in and it was non stop for 2 hours. Every 3 or 4 casts and all the fish were good quality fish between 15 and 17 in. I think the pike was crusing the shore line along the under cut bank and that had the bass a little weary to come out and hit the crank. The water was still up but the gage looks like its coming down fairly fast should be in tip top shape for the weekend. I have pics of the pike and a couple of the bass but I can't figure this photo bucket thing out. Any help with that would be much appricated. Good luck to all stay safe!

Yes I was fishing a ways down stream from the house. As far as craws I have seen a decent amount but they are very skiddish and are not sitting out in the open rocky shallows most of them are under the rocks or in the weeds.

I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that pike..sounds like an awesome fight. Photo bucket usually works for embedding the photos, once you resize them to a lower size
