Default grass technique

Here goes, find a whole you want to fish. Stand downstream of it. Cast a split shot and a minnow directley upstream and walk it down. With the grass the way it is this is the only thing that worked today, and worked well.

We have been using the same technique with crawlers. I found if you use a swivel and a slightly heavier hook, you can omit the split shot and get even less weeds. Many cast were free of debris without the split shot.

This is the worst year for grass/weeds/moss I have ever seen. Fishing was pretty good a month or so ago, but has drastically slowed down.

Alright so this time of year minnows usually rule and as a rule I use small hooks, like really small so it the hook doesnt get caught in the rocks but without a weight and a heavier hook could work to avoid the weeds. I will try that. thanks
