Default stopped at momence

Went out fishing at momence for a couple of hours to try out the new pole/reel combo and managed to hook on to this small guy. i released him before i left so he can get bigger. but i love my new toy. oh caught him on a mepps #3 brown

Nice fish

but I have to ask...

If I'm looking at this pic correctly, why put it on a stringer, if your going to release it? just saying, seems counterproductive to the intention of releasing it.

because my brother was going to meet me and i wanted to show him before i released it. he wasnt harm and swam off just fine

Actually you can very easily damage a fish's gills by putting them up on a stringer...

Nice fish!

But just a tip to try in the future, if you plan on releasing a fish on a stringer, or even keeping one alive that you plan to take home to eat... With the sharp end of the stringer, pierce the fishes mouth just inside of the lower jaw. Their gills will be able to function normally, and your fish will stay fresher, longer.
