Anyone know how it is there right now? Want to head out with my 9 and 6 year old but Iit'sa far drive and dont want my 6 year old to get bored. Is it good now or should we wait a little bit to let the water ttemps get warmer? Anything would be awesome

I haven't been to Rock Creek in a couple years. However, with the storms we just had and more forecasted, I would imagine the creek is going to be very high for the next week. The water levels there seem to take long to come back down.

I went down last year 2 times - Looking for Rock Creek and never found it. Can anyone give me direction to get to a parking area for the Rock Creek- I will be down there in a couple of weeks

Thanks

Entrance to park is off rt 102, if heading west out of bourbonnais it is aprox five miles out of town. You want the second park entrance, it will be on your left. Road will curve shortly after entering park, make a right at t intersection immediately after curve.Follow road until it ends in a parking lot, creek is 75yds west of lot. If coming from other direction park entrance is about a mile and a half east of Warner Bridge rd on rt 102. Creek is dropping pretty fast and running clear. While there are fish in the creek, I would say numbers are less than previous years. Fish in there now have a purpose, Walli d has a good point.

First of all - thanks for the directions. Will try it later this year.

Finally - Agree about nesting fish - - There was a long ( heated ) discussion on another board about fishing for a fish on a bed - That is not me - They are there for a purpose. The instinct is to protect the bed and if something ( a lure ) is in the fishes opinion 'attacks' the nets - it attacks. I akin that to shooting fish in a barrel - and I don't do that.

Hope my statement wasn't taken personally by anyone...wasn't directed at anyone. I've never fished that creek but guys at work have told me about the number of anglers lining the banks fishing for the spawning smallmouth in the spring and some even taking some home.

WalliDave - Not at all - I was just whole heartedly agreeing with you. Those that fish on nests and not sportsman and those that keep a nesting fish are destroying the natural cycle.

Default legalities

not to mention mandatory C & R until June 15

Last I looked as many vacant beds as occupied. Either caught of left account harassed too much

bring some crawlers, hook and split shot and enjoy the sucker fishing available there .
