Default KKK Cats

Catching some nice cats in the key lately. Went out today and only fished about an hour but my son caught a nice one about 6-7lbs.

Welcome to the site. The catfish bite has been hot lately I'm hearing. Nice job on the fish.

Nice eaters and that sox hat makes the picture. Only seen a handful of flatheads come out of the K3, smaller fish (under 8lbs), all on larger jerkbaits late in the fall in the urban setting. Creeky, do you know the general stretch that fish was shocked in?? (first mile below K3 dam, thru the park, wilmington area?)

they were working out of Bird park launch. they brought in a bunch of flatheads including another 20 lb fish. Lot of channel cats too.

Rob Miller said fish the wood for flatheads as that is were they found them.

I would say the K3 is underated as a Flathead fishery. When the Fisher's from Wilmington had that free weekly fishing magazine (Outdoor Times?) there was this guy 1st name? 'Catfish" Manigold that was always holding some monster Flats in pictures. I don't know if he was a troutline or a rod+reel guy. Last summer I was wading between the Rt 53 bridge and railroad bridge in Wilmington and the DNR shocked up an 18 lb Flatcat.
