Default River Up and Murky

Well, I got on the river again yesterday and forgot to check the Wilmington gauge first. Its up and murky and the fish were sluggish and not aggressive.

I was running a competition between Yum Crawbug versus Bass Magic Fighting craw (see pic below), but the only thing I got strikes on was the chartreuse Mr Twister!

But the river is beautiful even when the fish don't cooperate!

Willow Point rapids was a fun run in conditions like this.

Waiting for the river to go down a bit then going back for more.

Nice set up. I've been really wanting to do the kayak thing, but it has to be a two man deal on a river right?

Drop one car downstream, and launch from the upstream car. Or do you tool around one area?

Yes, ideally there would be 2 people. Luckily my family home is on Davis Creek and I have a drop and go service on demand. I have to admit I dont much like the idea of leaving the kayak down by the river while I run the truck out to Warner Bridge. So I hide it in the woods for the 20 minutes or so it takes.

Its fun to have others around on the float down, but its really nice when you're by yourself. So peaceful. The blue herons squawking. There's a bald eagle thats been soaring just upstream of Altorf / Langham Island. I think there must be a nest somewhere back in the trees.
