I would think that anyone involved in the bass aspect of this tourney is aware the 3K Illinois regs. state 1 smallmouth 18" or larger in possession only. Anything in the slot of 12"-18" is illegal to possess and must be released at the point of catch.

There used to be wild times there! Will there be a wet T-shirt contest afterwards?

Really. Who might I ask, in the IDNR, has that authority to do so, on a local basis? Are there permits? Papers? Is there a CPO on site in case of violations?

Yeah, time slowly isn't on our side.

I remember that. Why have regs and laws if they are not enforced for all situations. The DNR and the regs have always been a joke. Rivers are not lakes. Conditions wildly vary. I like the pure catch and release from April to mid June, but is it really enforced? How about the slot? The bass just get molested during the spawn. I am surprised they even do. The creeks are almost void of bedding bass, either from harvest or just being run off.

Good luck on the tournament. I think this is a great story and personally there are lots and lots of smallies and cats in the river and I'm sure it will remain that way after your tournament.

to answer your question .............. to have a valid tournament one must fill out the proper form(s) with requested info on it and send it to the IDNR 60 days prior to the tournament where it must then be signed by several managers of IDNR then mailed back to the organization that runs the tournament. I would assume (although not positive) that the local IDNR are notified. but even if not you have the signed form
