Default Lower Kankakee

Well, ran Davis Creek to just downstream of Warner Bridge in the yak. The river has dropped significantly and the bite is back on. Sorry - no pics - phone out of battery and forgot the camera.

Crawbugs and Twisters didnt cut it today. Mepps Rooster tail produced a nice bass near Wiley Creek. The west side of Langham Island produced two fatties on Rebel Craw.

The Rebel Craw hit again just downstream of Rock Creek on the east side of the river.

Weirdly nothing down by Warner Bridge which is usually the hottest spot.

Another week without rain and the river will be back to perfect, much clearer and a bit slower.

This week I've got to find the leak in the kayak.

I am looking to catfish the kankakee but I am bankbound. I am looking of going to momence area but do not know of any access points. Also looking to go well into the night so it would have to be non state park. If you could help me out that would be great and greatly appreciated

Maybe the river drop is all the water in your kayak

Cat, you did way better than I did yesterday! Spent a couple hours on the north side of the river and covered 3/4 of a mile of bank in the park. I got a couple bites that I didn't even get to set the hook on, threw plastics and that was it.

Can't help you out with Momence but as far as the state park goes the hunting areas 1-9 off of rt 113(east and west of Warner bridge) are open 24 hrs, some are closer to the river than others but they all have paths that lead to the river. Both fisherman parking areas on Warner bridge(north and south side of river) are 24 hrs. I have done ok below the area 9 boat launch and access is about as easy as it gets

Yep - good advice here. Another place is the mouth of Davis Creek. The easy access is from the State Park Youth Campground. From the parking lot walk straight east to the tree line and you will run into fisherman's trail by Davis Creek. Follow it downstream to the river a couple hundred yards.

Another spot is at the mouth of Wiley Creek off rt 113.

By the way, a couple of the places hipster mentions has ponds nearby.. If you are catfishing at night, you could gig frogs if the action is slow. Theres just nothing quite as good as fresk K3 county frog legs!
