Default Sept 26 with pics

I got to one of my favorite spots and when I tried to wade out, the current was way too strong. I spent almost $40 on tackle and bait so I decided to try to enter at another location. Current was moving pretty good but once I crossed the channel, I was able to get where I needed to go. Many spots I normally fish were not accessible due to the strong currents and higher water but I managed about a dozen smallies and one giant Flathead. Four of the smallies were really nice, the rest were small. Most smallies were caught on a yellow rattling crank bait. The rest were caught on Roaches drifted along current seams. The cat also hit a minnow. He was too large for me to lift out of the water with one hand so I just removed the hook with needle nose pliers while he was still in the water. I did throw top waters and a shad rap with no takers. Water is going down but be careful if you venture out as it is definitely still higher than normal. Water was still pretty stained but no weeds or grass anywhere. This is the first year in a while that cranks were not getting fouled up every cast. I hope this means I can get a few more walleye when they move in.

Nice fish! You have to work on the look on your face. It looks like you're paying your bill at Hooters. I know it feels almost the same...but it's not.

Thanks. I guess I need to work on my "selfie" techniques. I will be out again today. Hopefully I get an opportunity to practice my facial expressions behind a few more fish. Lol

Went down there today and water levels are stubborn to say the least.Water still stained and your spot is probably a couple weeks away from access. I thought the river would be wadeable from a week ago but it seems to be a little less then what it was. River wading now is tough and keeps you limited to the shoreline.

No doubt. 2.1 levels are not 1.3. The very heavy rain south and east of the river has kept the levels high. The lack of grass and moss has kept the clarity poor, compared to previous years. Its going to be a while for the clarity to come around. I don't think the river is going to see the extreme clear conditions of the last few seasons.

The next rain bullet needed to be dodged looks to be Thursday.

I was able to get out there, just had to avoid the spots where current bottle necked. The majority of it was wadeable with common sense. It is going down nicely and should be in much better shape by the end of the week. I'm off Thursday and hope to get out then.
