Default Ice Fishing in Kankakee Area

1. How's the ice looking?
2. Anyone know any public ponds/lakes besides Mazonia/Strip Ponds out in Braidwood that you can ice fish?

Thanks!

Most ice in the area is 3"- 6". Not much in the way of public waters in Kankakee. The boat harbor above the dam is a possibility. The Iroquois river can be decent but access is tough and with the higher water and current flow extreme caution must be used. Quite a few 57 and subdivision ponds but gaining permission can be difficult. Willow slough would be your best bet, about the same distance as Mazonia but the quality is not even comparable.

check the back waters toward the state line or the Des Plaines Conservation area . pretty sure Milliken Lake is still closed .

Monee Reservoir in the Will County FPD is a possibilty

Do you have any advice for access points for the backwaters at the DPCA?
