Default Sunday 9-20, high water spinnerbait smallmouth

My brother and I fished the river in the jon boat in and west of the state park area from launch #9. With the river way, way up and resembling chocolate milk we decided to fish the submerged shrubs along the shoreline. Had a great day fishing and nabbed a lot of big smallies, all on large spinnerbaits.

Very nice. Down a good foot since then, hopefully clearing up too.

We went out last Sunday in the same locations and the water level was down substantially and cleared up quite a bit. Didn't do as well but still caught some decent smallies, a walleye and a fairly large channel cat. I like the higher than normal, rising water because it really concentrates the fish along the shoreline. And therefore locating them is that much easier. Now, enticing them to hit is another matter...
