Default Days of old. 4-17 - 4-18

Amazing couple of days fishing Saturday and sunday. Fished a variety of spotsand they all produced. Flats, current seams, riffles, holes you name it. In a matter of 3 hours on Sunday afternoon 3pm to 6pm my brother and I landed approximately 50 smallmouth, a half dozen rock bass 1 walleye 1 pike and even a rogue crappie. Threw one bait with no reason to change. A strike king 1/16 ounce mini spinner bait in white. Tried throwing a swim bait briefly but they wanted the flash. No monsters and most fish averaged 11 or 12 inches but man were they plentiful. The walleye was a good sized fish that measured 19 and the pike was 32 inches. Reminded me of when I started fishing the river and days like this were the norm. The two most productive area were upstream of the station street bridge on the west bank and the South bank near the bridge on aroma park. Although over the course of both days we tried 7 or 8 spits and everyone produced at least 1 smallmouth.

Default days gone

The days of averaging 40 smallmouth a trip with 70 to 80 smallmouth days are indeed gone . One hundred smallmouth days are just a dream any more .

Urban fishing at it's finest. Hopefully we don't get a bunch of rain that screws up the spawn.

All one had to do is put on a #1 mepps, and you could catch a 100 bass and rock bass. Most would be small, but the base of fish was unmatched. There are still bass, with quality, but the numbers are half, if not worse, than 10 years ago.
