Default Sag East - 02/15/2019 - slow

PalosBob and I tried Sag East and it was pretty slow, mainly due to the numerous dink gills that were a PITA to catch. Almost all the fish seemed to be in 5 - 7 FOW. Anything over 10 feet and never marked a fish on the vex nor got a bite hole hopping in deeper water.

As usual Palos was using plastics and I was using live bait (little piece of a red worm). I did try plastics at first but way too many bites with no hook ups so I went to small jig and live bait but still no hook ups so I went to an even smaller jig that I think had a size 14 or 18 hook and finally landed the 'beast'

There were some scattered larger ones that maxed out at 6 inches but most were dinks, around 4 inches long.

Talked to a hole hopper and he said he was on one hole in about 9 FOW water catching dink bass. Palos managed one that may have run 8 inches.

Ice was 6 inches thick so plenty safe to fish on. Saw no one on Sag West, otherwise I would have walked over and tried to get a report.

Nice.
I've always liked your bluegill next to a ruler pics.
