Went out this evening with the daughter and wife.....nice evening to be out...

First time fishing for the kid, at 3 years old....she actually caught more fish then I did, all bluegills, largest at 8"...she reeled them in like a pro on the Mickey Mouse rod...although, I do have to say, catching gills on a little rod like that IS pretty fun!

The kid even caught two on a bare hook!

She had fun until she slipped on some mud and fell in the lake She's okay tho guys, just got a little wet....looked up at me and said in her little voice, "It happens, Daddy!"

The she comes home and wants to call grandpa to tell him what she did....

Yep, another kid hooked on fishing, nothing better in the world!!

As for me, several gills caught, all between 5"-8", all released...all on slip bobber, and wax worms on a small red bait hook...

Got a couple 8-10" crappie as the sun was dipping under the trees on a white mini-mite....

And now for my pissed off outburst..

There was a family fishing about 20 feet away...first off, the father screaming at his kids is wrong, but when he blames them for getting his gold rapala hung up and lost in the rocks, I got a little pissed...

Even worse, they leave, and leave what could probably fill three hefty bags of trash....

Congrats!!!!!!! to your three year old, sounds like she's got the bug.

Secondly, you showed perfect examples of "How To" and "How Not To" treat children and our resources.

There's a good chance those kids will grow up to hate fishing.... and who knows what else. It's sad.

Yeah, jd, that is exactly what I said to my wife...those kids will get older and HATE the outdoors, all because their father is a idiot. Very very sad...even worse, I will see them sometime down the road (literally) throwing their McDonalds trash out the window of their car on some highway somewhere, because they learned the false lesson of "Don't worry, someone else will get it"...just ticked me off....

And here I am teaching my daughter to get low and quiet (which is how she fell in...ooops!), to stalk the fish, to watch her float, how to set the hook on panfish, and how to leave the place exactly as she found it....even took her for a quick hike in the woods, and pointed out some cool stuff for her, and let her explore awhile....and I never pitched my voice once...

What's even better, is she now wants to go catch walleye like the guys on TV! This kid would rather watch Al Lidner and Doug Stange then Elmo or Dora the Explorer!

Even taught one of the idiot spawn that just because I am catching fish, it doesn't mean you can throw your line a foot from mine...told her to relax, the fish will find her, especially bluegill....

So..who will grow up with a love of the outdoors here, guys? Makes ya really wonder about the state of "sportsmen" nowadays....
