Crappie pond
Made it to my favorite pond on Saturday with my buddy.
Crappies were right next to shore, and hitting our Mepps as we casted parallel to the shoreline. We must have had 20 of them after making it around the entire pond, and had 9 over 14"
We used his camera, so I will post the pictures after he emails them to me.

Yep!
Try this tactic at your local ponds right now.
I also caught some crappie at my local pond in Carol Stream on the same set up. Mitchel Park off of Elk Trail. Gary to Elk Trail, then go west 2 blocks.
Last year I caught a couple of 12" out of there by the drainage pipes after a good rain. #1 mepps 3' from shore. Every big one I caught was no further that 3' from shore with some only 1' from shore.

Nice, I think I've fished that pond. No crappie though, only bass (mostly small). I'll have to give it a shot again.

The pond is just west of Gary, between Army Trail Road and North Ave. (off of Elk Trail).

JC, you don't have to worry about walleye_71 fishing out "his" pond .
He knows a good thing when he has it .

JC,
I hear ya!
The pond that I gave directions to is my local pond.
The pond that I catch these slabs are somewhere else.
I release every fish that I catch out of that pond.
I pretty much release all my fish except an occasional walleye in Canada for a shore lunch, and a few crappies out of Delavan.
No worries!
