Default 36 Inch Pike and a Crappie w/ pics Local Lake Report 9/23

I went out Saturday morning from 630 to 9am since the cold front did not pass yet. The Bass were jumping like crazy on this foggy morning but my main goal was to fish for Crappie since I haven't done it for awhile. I was using extra large Fatheads on a crappie hook with a bobber fishing an outer weed edge.

My first cast landed this average size Crappie.

Well needless to say I was happy since that's what I set out to catch and thought they would be biting like crazy. WRONG!!! Had a few misses and a few Yellow Bass which were good size. I guess the Crappie disappeared and this is probably why.

This 36 inch Northern hit my Fathead which I thought was just a Largemouth. It was one of those moments where you see nothing in the water and then all of a sudden this giant appears out of nowhere. I probably woke some neighbors with my "Holy Crap" shout when I saw it.

He fought for one run then was pretty easy to bring him in. He wasn't fat but pretty long. He was released successfully and swam away. Sorry the picture is off center but being by myself I did the best I could and wanted to get him back in the water.

Looking forward to the next time with the fall fishing heating up. You can always visit my personal website that contains all of my fishing pictures at http://www.williamsfishing.com if your bored at work or something.

wow that's a true snake, kinda odd for him to be so thin for that length though. Nice catch, and yea that's prolly the reason the crappie ran off.

Nice report and pics. It's always a surprise when you're panfishing and a big boy shows up. Yeah, that fish is a little thin though,
maybe not much forage/baitfish in that lake/pond? It needs to put on the feed bag and eat some of those crappie.

I felt bad for this guy cause he looked alittle banged up for some reason and not 100% healthy looking. I think this one is an isolated case since I have seen fatter Pike in the lake. Thanks for the comments!!!
