Default local lake w/ pics

stopped out at a local lake last night. there was a solid 3 1/2 inches of ice. fished around the launch in about 6 feet of water. i set a medium roach on the tip up about three feet down. i caught a few crappies but they seemed to be cruising.i'd have a follow then it would just disapear. i got one on a little jig head and wax worm, one on a swedish pimple and crappie nibblet, and a few on the pimple and minnow head. about ten oclock i found out why they may have been so skittish. Tip-UP! seemed a little skinny for a winter pike but a nice fish none the less. sorry about the pics, had to use the cell phone. i set the tip up back up in the same hole and continued for some crappies. i got another two crappies on the pimple and minnow before calling it a night. will be back out again this weekend sometime and hope for same or better results.

Hey Water Dog,

Is it possible that the northern pike is really a pickeral? Though not common, some bodies of water in northern Illinois do have pickeral in them. Just wondering.

As far as I know the only pickerel up this was ins the Grass Pickeral, which is pretty small, not even sure it reaches 1 pound, but i believe the markings are similar to a musky

thanks for the comments. i am sure that it was a northern inthe neighborhood of 28 inches. the ice didnt crack at all when i got out there. that is old news now. most lakes should have 4+. sorry for the late response but i have been really busy as of late and have not checked the posts since i put this one up.
