Default Sun - July 4th

Took a buddy from work out that just started fishing so thought we'd go for some large mouth bass. Wanted to head out early before the boat traffic got crazy so hit the water around 6:45am. Went over to Pistakee Lake across from Freddies. Thought the top water bite might be on and 2 casts with a popper got a nice LMB.

We worked our way into the channel that leads into Red Head and got another hit & miss on the popper. Switched over to a floating scum frog and got 2 blow ups through some cover but the bites died quickly. I think the clear blue skies and bright sun shut it down but if we had gone out about 1 hour early I think we would have cleaned up. Worked a large part of cover on Red Head but nothing.

Moved over to some of the large channels off Pistakee just East of Pistakee Bay. We through some slash baits, spinner baits, top water, but nothing. Headed over to Pistakee Bay but the boat traffic was crazy and the wind was really blowing.

Down the fox river to the channels off Dutch Creek. Found a little area that was out of the wind and started seeing lots of pan fish on their spawning beds. Also started seeing schools of LMB. Funny how small LMB were swimming with LMB their size and med size were swimming with med ones. We both rigged up black 3" Senko worms wacky style and had a blast catching bass. Mixed in with the schools I would see larger ones hunting by themselves so I would toss it near them and bam.

Worked our way out of the channel but the wind was crazy by now. At the entrance to the channels I switched to a scum frog and got 2 casts in on some thick lilly pads when bam amother nice LMB. Tried to fish the area some more but windy was throwing the boat around bad. Called it around 2pm. Water temp started at 77 and peaked around 82.

Redhead has been a tough bite since after the spawn.
Is "basstiality" the same as sleeping with the fishes?

I prefer to Die on my feet than Live on my knees

2sac is not bassalarro material.

Default Red Head

Its always been hot or cold for me on Red Head. I like the lake but maybe the shallow overall depth forces them into deeper water or way up under the lillys out of casting distance. Last year a awesome top water / lilly pad bite one day would lead to a dead sea for the following few days even with the same weather conditions.
