Default Fox Chain 12-27

Went out with my brother this morning for some open water panfishing on the Fox Chain. We were greeted with ripping winds all morning with an occasional drizzle to boot. Even so with temps in the low 40's and proper gear it wasn't to bad weather wise but fishing defiantly challenged us. Water levels are very low so navigated was done carefully and we decided not to get to creative so only fished a few areas.

The key for us was keeping our presentations very close to the bottom. Anything in the middle of the water column or higher would not generate even a sniff. Also fish were not tight near structure. they were away from it in deeper water. Water was very clear.

Keeping the trolling motor working all morning and trying to stay on a bite took some work but was done with success. Only problem was you would only pull a few out from each spot. And of course when you anchor cause you think you have the sweet spot it would just stop

With that being said we caught 3 lmb that went about 15inches per, some Gills, Crappies, Perch, Yellows. All fish were caught with plastics. Meat didn't seem to do any better. Pretty wild to be on a boat on the Chain this late in the year. Rather be on hardwater. Have enough invested in that game, would like to try to use some of them toys.

Hey Pete, dis one's for you. Hopefully this pic doesn't ruin my thread

~*Nice that you were able to actually get out and fish rather than just talking about it and actually having some success !~*

Nice job on getting out...its hard to believe all the lakes in IL being free off ice on the 27th. I took the boat out to Shabby Friday, but only to make adjustments to my trailer. I brought some equiptment, but my helper had no interest. I saw three boats on the whole lake.
