Default 'Spring has Sprung' Mazonia 3/6/09 with pics

It was a sun-drenched 65 degree day Friday and the largemouth cooperated pretty good. There was still remnants of the ice sheet in a couple of the south coves. The Father-in-law (Larry) and I got 10 anchored by a 6lb 5oz hog. All bass were taken in 3-5 FOW on jig and pig.

Nice fish! Was supposed to go out there on Friday myself, but instead decided to get the boat back into fishing condition, rather than full of decoys still

Was gonna head out there in the morning but not sure what all this rain has done over there. Mazon "river" is completely out of it's banks as well as any other creek out here. Monster came up a good bit as well, I saw the back side of it from Essex Rd. today. Maybe I'll just take a ride over there and look before I break out the boat.

Wow, you definitely have the biggest (documented) fish I've seen being caught at Mazonia. I was headed to Braidwood this weekend, but may have to reconsider

Nice fish Slim, I opted to fish SWSC and CECO and have only scratched a couple of fish in three trips. Been a slow ice out for me. Glad somebody found them.
