Default Crappie day at Mazonia 5-7

Went in search of bedded bass. That was a bust so I sight fished my limit of slabs with a crappie jig. Fish were in deep wood piles. Throw up a pic when I get a min. NOTE: Mazonia apparently limits u to only 10 crappie not the normal 15. Size was good 8-13 inches with most being 11-13"

Beds were empty Sunday.. Water temp was 59.
Bass were biting, gills were excited, cats were cruising.

Nice Haul. I definitely have a great deal of respect for a good crappie fishermen. I catch a few here and there bluegill fishing. But when I target them specifically it's usually with poor results.

Ditto - Around here I agree 100% PJ! Decent sized Crappie are one of the more difficult species to catch regularly IMO. Sight fishing is super cool, but also a little tricky at times to encourage bites with that super clear H2O! Great job and great eats!

I saw that Sunday too. Got one decent bass off a bed, big male. Tried the same wood piles for crappie to no avail
