Default Lake Clinton

Good day, hope everyone is staying safe during this current pandemic.. , I am considering going to but have never been to Lake Clinton. I'm looking for a decent place to take a 7 year old and/or maybe a 75 year old for simple fishing.

Was wondering about any good launches or bait shops; I will most likely be launching boat solo, as my guests cant really help much....

I would be coming from Will County area, so its about a 2 hour drive..
Any recommendations or insight, or if its not recommended as well., or another lake within about 2 hour drive, giver or take... I have a 16 foot deep V.

Thanks!

Kinkad the easiest launch there is the marina or state park launch. There is a baitshop in DeWitt Ole Joes. He is a great guy and will give you some good starting points. Not sure what you fishing for but crappie are still going as well as catfish. I have heard of some big blue cats coming from the hot water end lately. Good luck and be safe.

Fished this last weekend water temps on the hot end 87 and over by the dam 74 never made it up to the plant so not sure of temps but guess 72. Heard they did ok on crappie with minnows. Still up on the banks but moving deeper soon I would bet. I drifted for cats and had a good morning on saturday. Sunday a little slower but did ok. Let me know if you have any questions I am there almost every weekend fishing

Thanks for the info, I made it out Monday.. was a bit hot and windy, I concentrated on exploring the lake some and putting time into breaking in a new boat/engine... I launched at the marina and spent a little time jigging in the main open area near what I think were old gravel pits... did not do so well but it was nice to be out.
