I'm at SIU right now and love it. SIU has a great business school, as well as the best fishing out of any of the other schools by far. The country down here is nice too, and you are right in a "city" setting with carbondale. I've been catching nice crappie since I've been back from break in our campus lake as well as some other ponds and Crab. Everyone thinks southern is a huge party school, but so is any other state school. I love it down here. A lot of the student body is from Chicago as well, so it is very easy to find a ride home. Hey you other SIU guys...check out the bass fishing club. I am vice president if you want information. My email is [email protected] . We have paper tourneys on campus lake (great lake for bass and crappie as you should well know) as well as tourneys on many of the lakes around here. A lot of the guys in the club have boats, so we normally have plenty of boats to go around. I have visited all the other state schools, and SIU definitely has the nicest campus and dorms. Maybe I'm biased because I go here, but I really didn't like the other state schools, except for ISU. I liked it there, except for the fact that like you said there aren't very many easy fishing opportunities. Oh well, too much for now.

As previously stated-all schools are party schools, just depends on what you're after-my idea of a good friday or saturday night is stayin on the lake till midnight and wastin time on the water.

Ben-i'm on the bass club email list. don't really have the time to do it-I'll try to lend my boat services sometime to you guys cuz you don't all own boats...I don't know how much longer I'll be here for though. I'm not really into the tourney thing too much though (whole other discussion).

I got really excited when i saw this post about college fishermen. im about to take the big leap to Eastern Illinois. It was a tough decision, but i made it for the quality teaching program. My sister is just finishing up there and she was very happy with the program. For the last four years ive fished that pond several times while visiting her.(by the way she was Miss Illinois and you could be fishing with royalty) anyway, that lake has nice bass. ive never gotten a trout out of there or seen anybody. i think the catfishing is the best kept secret. there are some nice cats in there. im looking to hookup with some guys as fishing buddies. Is anyone going to Eiu or going there now? I think it would be cool to hang with some guys who also like fishing. Generally fishermen have similiar hobbies and personalities. Give me an email at [email protected]
