Hit Clinton today around 7am. Started out in the warm water area and didn't seem to find much going on. After checking a few different areas all the way down to the Rt 48 bridge, headed back up by the Dewitt bridge. Seen a guy trying to reel in what seemd to be a pretty good fish with a small crappie pole. He finally got it in, and was a 7-8 pound channel cat. Turned out him and his buddy had a stringer of about 9 or 10 nice cats. They laughed and said "yea, we're crappie fishing" as they hoisted it up to show us. LOL
The cats were hitting minows under a float a few feet deep right off the rocks by the bridge. Of course the future misses and me decided to give it a try ourselves after a quick detour for a potty break (pregnant women sure do pee alot). Got her riged up with a nightcrawler under a float and before I could get my line out, she had a fish on. Her eyes sure got big when it tried to pull the pole out of her hand! She ended up landing a 6 or 7 pound channel and was pretty excited. Guys on shore got a chuckle out of her hooting hollering. Was her biggest fish ever so far. She got another smaller cats a little bit later, while all I could seem to catch was some pesky blue gill.
The bite died down around mid morning and so moved on to some other spots and caught a few fish here and there.
All total at the end of the day, we had caught catfish, white bass, largemouth, crappie, bluegill and a drum that must have weighed 5 pounds. Would liked to have added a walleye or 2 to the mix, but still was a pretty good day.
